We'd like to thank our major sponsor Blackheart.com.au, without whom this fantastic journey that we are on would not be possible.... BLACKHEART WILL RACE, EXPLORE AND CONQUER EVERY MOUNTAIN, OCEAN AND DESERT THE WORLD HAS TO OFFER.
Team Blackheart / Salomon
Wayne - Within the team, Wayne tends to provide the packhorse and tugboat capabilities. He has demonstrated that he just keeps on going, whether it's a two hour race, or a six day race. Unfortunately for the team, he just keeps on talking as well, regardless of the subject! Wayne manages to regularly achieve podium positions with whoever he races with.
Maria - New to the team is our own Russian import. Maria comes to us from the very strong Russian all-female team, ARENA. Maria currently lives and works in Melbourne and caught the eye of the team while competing in The Bull of Africa.
Andy - Andy is the only surviving member of this particular team from last years XPD, where they were in a very strong position coming into the final hike. If anyone is to threaten Wayne's position as the packhorse, it is Andy who is the current 24hrs of Adrenaline Solo MTB World Champ in the 25-29 age group.
Matt - Matt was a late bloomer into the sport of Adventure Racing, but by his own admission, is an AR Addict. Matt’s passion for Adventure Racing was ignited by a less than convincing ride through the Austrian Alps in 2003, where he was determined to win the race up the mountain, but was unsuccessful. Daunted by his demonstrated lack of fitness, Matt purchased his first Mountain Bike on his return to Australia, and the rest is, as they say, history. Matt is likely the highest represented Adventure Racer in Australia over the past 4 years.
We'd also like to acknowledge our other sponsors, as without their leading edge Adventure Equipment, our job would be so much harder:
Salomon, Sanyo Oceania P/l, UltraFit Magazine, SUUNTO, Icebreaker, Netti, Camelbak, Body Science (BSc), Oakley, Boreal Design kayaks, Mizuno, Silva, Wilson, Reebok, Avanti Fitness, and AYUP lighting systems.
