INSOMNIA 24HR MOUNTAIN BIKE FESTIVAL ANNOUNCED
The inaugural Insomnia 24 Hour Mountain Bike Festival will take part
from the 23-24 June 2007 at a stunning new location on the North side
of Brisbane, Queensland. The feature is the 24 hour mountain bike race,
but will be supported by a raft of festivities including live music, markets,
food stalls, competitions, displays, demos, clinics, corporate tents and
all weekend camping.
The festival and race location is at Kurwongbah, less than 30 minutes
from the centre of Brisbane. For the first time ever the property was
opened to mountain bikers as part of an adventure race and they were blown
away by the tracks. “Sweet” was the word of the day as competitors
raced the gently undulating single track over the property.
The course consists of 16kms of single track and fire trail starting
and finishing at the event centre. One highlight for riders and spectators
alike is the two-third point of each lap which passes right in front of
the main music stage. The course is characterized as easy to moderate
difficulty with gentle undulations and wide passing lanes. Speed and curves
are what this course is all about.
The Insomnia 24 Hour Mountain Bike Race is open to riders of all abilities
in the following categories: Solo, Pairs, Team of 4 and Team of 6.
The event is hosted by Geocentric Adventure Racing and details can be
found on their website at www.gar.com.au More information contact Craig
