Bribie
Island Multisport - 26th Apr 09
The Bribie Island Multisport is a 100 km race through Bribie Island,
Pumistone Passage and the Glass House Mountains Forests.
The full course is broken into 9 legs and sees relay teams and individuals
complete approximately 55km of mountain biking, 22km of running, 23km
of kayaking and 1.6 km of swimming.
The Bribie Half is a new event for 2009 and run at the same time. The
53km race sees relay teams and individuals complete the last 4 legs of
the full course. This includes 13km of trail running, 30 km of mountain
biking and 10 km of kayaking.
Each leg is unique in it’s challenges and style. One of the mountain
bike legs is flat and fast, while the other is technical and rocky. One
run leg is on the beach while another ascends one of the Glass House Mountains.
The race is a true multi-sport endurance event with top teams finishing
in 6 hours and individuals in 6 and a half. Tail enders do not miss out
as the course remains open for 12 hours, enabling most to make their way
to the end.
The event attracts many of Australia's top multisport athletes as well
as a lot of new comers to the sport.
Competitors may enter as individuals or as a relay team of 2, 4 or 5+
