Dragon Trail Mountain Bike Race

(2020–2023)

Dragon Trail MTB was a three-day stage mountain bike race and festival held across North-East Tasmania. The course linked iconic riding destinations including Blue Derby, St Helens, and the Bay of Fires. Each day combined world-class singletrack with Tasmania’s wild landscapes, giving riders an unforgettable challenge from start to finish.

Geocentric Outdoors owned and directed the event, managing every aspect from course design and logistics to rider safety and on-trail support. The race was strongly supported by the Break O’Day Council and Events Tasmania, alongside the contributions of local businesses and volunteers whose involvement helped shape a uniquely Tasmanian experience. Dragon Trail delivered significant tourism and economic benefits to the region, attracting interstate and international visitors and showcasing Tasmania as a world-class mountain biking destination.

Beyond the racing, Dragon Trail stood out for its festival atmosphere: the evening campsites featured live music, rider presentations, local beer and food, and a vibrant community feel. With hundreds of participants attending each year, the event quickly developed a following as one of the country’s premier MTB stage races.
