Terra Nova 24hr Adventure Race

(2020 - 2021)

Terra Nova 24 was a fast-paced, nonstop 24-hour adventure race co-created by Geocentric Outdoors and Wild & Co, held along the coastline and hinterland of New South Wales’ South Coast. Teams of two or four (mixed, male, or female) navigated a demanding 120 km course — revealed only hours before race start — through trekking, mountain biking, kayaking, and varied adventure disciplines.

Over its first two years, Geocentric’s role focused on course design, safety systems, and logistical management — ensuring seamless operations. Each edition featured a new and challenging course that showcased the region’s pristine beaches, wild headlands, and inland forests. Competitors were required to be fully self-sufficient, often carrying their own water and nutrition for long sections of the course. The terrain demanded endurance and teamwork, with only minimal external support available to teams during the race.

A Terra Nova Half version was also offered, covering just over half the full distance but still over the full 24-hour window, making the race more accessible while retaining the same rugged character. Both courses started from secret locations, with teams sometimes transported to the start line and finishing back at race headquarters after an intense day and night of adventure.

Terra Nova gained prestige quickly, and it became a qualifier race for the ARWS Oceania circuit.

Though Geocentric’s direct involvement ceased after those early years, Terra Nova continues under Wild & Co, carrying forward the spirit of exploration, endurance, and community that defined its early editions.
