XPD Expedition Race

(2004 - 2021)

The XPD Expedition Race was one of Australia’s most iconic endurance events — a true test of navigation, endurance, and teamwork across some of the country’s most spectacular wilderness areas. Founded and directed by Geocentric Outdoors, XPD challenged teams to trek, mountain bike, paddle, and navigate more than 700 kilometres through rugged, remote terrain over 5–10 days of continuous racing.

Across 11 editions, each race was uniquely designed to showcase the natural beauty and diversity of its host region — from the red deserts of the Flinders Ranges to the wild coasts of Tasmania and the tropical landscapes of North Queensland. XPD attracted many of the world’s best adventure racing teams, was filmed for multiple television documentaries, and partnered with state and regional tourism bodies due to its significant economic and promotional impact on host destinations.

As a founding member of the Adventure Racing World Series, XPD also hosted two Adventure Racing World Championships, earning international acclaim for its world-class logistics, safety systems, and course design. Each edition delivered an unforgettable expedition experience that captured the true spirit of adventure racing — resilience, discovery, and teamwork in the wild.
